Themes of finding home and discovering purpose in our stories have been present since her childhood as a third-culture kid in the jungles of Papua New Guinea. Unlike most emerging artists launching their first official release, Melody has spent the last two decades honing her craft and telling stories through song about her very private, personal, and often painful quest for belonging and significance.
With a voice that’s oddly comfortable in the tension between heartache and hope, the vulnerability in each note is palpable. While her sound could be described as moody, cinematic dream pop, it’s the honesty of her delivery that draws the listener in. Equally fragile and gritty, she invites us to explore the breadth of the human condition with a lens that is intimately focused on the ever-shifting emotional landscape that she knows so well.
A true seeker at heart, Melody has crossed continents and oceans in pursuit of her dreams. She set up camp in Australia for 5 years, performing her songs at cafes, galleries and small local music festivals. Returning stateside in 2013 to Charleston, SC, she frequented open mic nights and songwriter showcases before winning Pop Original Song of the Year at the 2nd Annual Independent Tone Awards.
In 2020, Melody packed her bags once again and headed to California to record her first official release with the ardent support of friends and fans through a successful Kickstarter campaign. She is currently based in the greater Los Angeles area.
